Jerry Abstract @ Fixel Plix

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

My old friend Jerry Larsh AKA Jerry Abstract has a cool little website that features a animated gallery of his designs, .mp3s of music he has made, and you can download live mix sets that he has DJ’d in .zip format. The site has been redesigned since my last visit. It’s a simple and clean layout that’s easy to navigate. I haven’t talked to or hung out with him in a long time, so I though I would give him some link love and tell you all to check his work out @ Fixel Plix. Nice job weirdo. ^_^

Iron Man – Good Enough for a Poke

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

I finally got around to watching the Iron Man (Two-Disc Special Collectors’ Edition) I bought a while ago. What is there to be said about it? It’s a (better than most) super-hero movie… So, if you’re in the mood for that sort of thing, it will satisfy. There’s some nice extras, but I’m not convinced that it needs to have a place in my permanent collection. I will probably watch it a couple more times, then sell it on ebay.

Guitar Hero Comic

Guitar Hero Comic

For my 34th birthday (yeah, I’m old), Sarah bought me the Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock Wired Bundle. We both quickly became hooked on the game. We kept playing it, taking turns because we only had one guitar. The other day I decided we had to have another guitar to be able to play the co-op game. I called the nearest Blockbuster to see if they had guitars for sale. We ran up there. When I got there I realized that they didn’t actually sell the guitars individually, so I ended up buying the Guitar Hero Aerosmith Wireless Bundle.

It’s not like anyone needs me to tell them that this franchise is amazing. I’m just writing about it as it’s something that’s happened to me lately. I’ve developed a serious love-hate relationship with this game in a matter of weeks. When I’m not playing it, it’s always in the back of my mind. When I do play it, I’m constantly thinking about everything else I should be doing, but I can’t put it down. Then hours fly by reminding me of the lost evenings spent with the original Halo back in the day. I’m listening to songs on the radio now considering if what I’m hearing would be fun to play or not, if it was actually in the game. I dream about the game in my sleep. And yes, I believe I have developed a mild form of carpel tunnel from playing it so much. I have to force myself to take a break. I don’t want to, but I have to.

Two days ago, they just released the Guitar Hero World Tour – Band Kit. At $300, this is starting to get a little ridiculous. But guess what? I have a feeling that this is going to be purchased by the end of the year. About $500 will have been spent on one game series in a matter of months. That’s insane.
